Students’ Grievances Redressal Committee (SGRC)
RV University is committed to providing a fair, transparent, and supportive learning environment. In accordance with the RV University Act – Chapter V, Clauss (33) and UGC (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023 – Notification issued on 11th April, 2023, the Students’ Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) has been established to address and resolve student concerns impartially. SGRC offers a platform for students to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly.

Grievance Redressal Procedure
Step 1: Filing a Grievance
Where to File?
Students must submit grievances via any of the following methods:
Online: RVU Website/ RVU Student Grievance Portal (https://forms.gle/iBiLpeiUfUd2Mwh6A)
Email: You can send your grievances to this email with necessary documentary evidence to grievance@rvu.edu.in
Hard Copy: Submit a signed letter to the Dean, Student Affairs Office
Before You File, Ensure You Have:
Personal Details: Full name, University Seat Number (USN) (for enrolled students), your official RVU email ID and phone number ((ideally WhatsApp number).
Academic Details: Your School (e.g., SoCSE, SoLAS) and current program/year of study.
Statement of Facts: A clear description of the grievance with all material facts.
Evidence: Any supporting documents or proof (with a brief explanation for each attachment).
Timeline: A grievance can be filed anytime, but preferably within 15 days of the issue occurring & after there is a reasonable effort to resolve the same at School level through faculty, mentor, program director, or Dean of the school.
Step 2: Initial Review & Acknowledgment
The Member Secretary shall verify the complaint within 24 hours of receipt.
A formal acknowledgment shall be sent to the student via email/SMS within 48 hours or additional details or documentary proof or facts are sought.
If additional details are required, the student shall be informed immediately.
Step 3: Scheduling the SGRC Meeting
The Member Secretary shall call a meeting within 3 working days of receiving a complete complaint and get facts verified with RV University stakeholders and forward the same to Chairperson of the SGRC.
The agenda and meeting notice shall be issued 1 week before the scheduled date to:
- Aggrieved student
- SGRC members
Quorum for Meeting: Minimum 3 members, including the Chairperson & Student representative.
Step 4: Conducting the Hearing
The student may appear in person (preferred) or authorize a representative.
The committee shall:
- Hear the student’s statement
- Examine evidence and witness accounts (if applicable)
- Seek clarification from concerned faculty/staff (if required)
- The committee shall ensure natural justice and maintain confidentiality.
Step 5: Decision-Making & Reporting
The SGRC shall deliberate and finalize its decision based on:
- University policies
- UGC guidelines
- Evidence presented
A written decision report shall be prepared within 15 working days.
The report shall include:
- Findings of the committee
- Final decision
- Corrective actions (if any)
Step 6: Communication of the Decision
The decision shall be officially communicated to:
- The Aggrieved Student (via email & registered letter)
- Vice-Chancellor
- Registrar (for record-keeping)
If the grievance is resolved, the case is closed.
If the student is not satisfied, they may proceed to Step 7 (Appeal Process).
Step 7: Appeal to the Ombudsperson
If dissatisfied, the student may appeal to the Ombudsperson within 15 days.
The Ombudsperson shall:
- Review the case
- Conduct a hearing (if necessary)
- Issue a final decision within 30 days
The University shall comply with the Ombudsperson’s decision.
