Dean’s Message

The Office of the Dean–Research steers RV University’s research strategy, fosters a thriving scholarly culture, and ensures alignment with global standards of academic excellence.

Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr) D. Janakiram, the office strengthens the university’s vision of academic excellence through innovation-led research. With extensive experience from premier institutions such as IIT Madras, Prof Janakiram brings both technical depth and institutional insight to RVU’s research pursuits.

The Dean’s office also guides funding opportunities, research mentorship and engagement with national and international collaborators. It serves as a bridge between faculty, scholars, industry and society, ensuring that knowledge created at RVU is both intellectually rigorous and socially relevant.

Areas of Research

RVU promotes research that transcends conventional boundaries and addresses contemporary societal, technological, and ethical challenges. We promote inquiry that is not confined to traditional boundaries, but instead fosters meaningful dialogue between fields—integrating technology, design, law, social sciences, liberal arts and business thinking.

Research Grants & Funding

RVU supports its researchers in securing grants from national and international bodies as well as industry collaborations and CSR partnerships. The University offers internal seed funding to nurture early-stage ideas and also provides end-to-end administrative support for grant applications, budgeting and compliance.

Research Policies & Ethics

RV University embeds ethics-centred thinking across its research culture. One prominent example is the Centre for Ethics, which promotes interdisciplinary ethical reflection and public discourse on moral values and societal responsibility.

All research conducted at RVU must adhere to established protocols that safeguard academic honesty, ensure accountability and protect the rights of participants and communities.

Our governance framework includes:
Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC):

Responsible for reviewing and approving research involving human participants, personal data or sensitive subjects, in line with national and international ethical standards.

Plagiarism Detection and Resolution Protocols

Mechanisms to identify, investigate and address academic misconduct.

Research Conduct Policy

A comprehensive set of guidelines addressing authorship, research collaboration, data stewardship and responsible dissemination of findings.

Open Access and Data Sharing Guidelines

Encouraging transparent and accessible knowledge practices through responsible archiving and publication of research outputs.
