Article title : Descartes'" Cogito Ergo Sum": The Revolution and Critique of Rationalism

abstract : René Descartes' statement "Cogito Ergo Sum" ("I think, therefore I am") had a revolutionary impact on Western philosophy. By employing radical doubt, Descartes sought to rebuild human knowledge on firm, unquestionable foundations established through reason alone. The "Cogito" marked his realisation that the certainty of his existence as a thinking being could serve as a foundational truth. From this, he attempted to logically derive the existence of God and the external world. Descartes' emphasis on rationalism over empiricism initiated a paradigm shift, liberating human enquiry from religious dogma. However, his approach attracted critiques, particularly regarding the role of the "I", his introduction of God, his prioritisation of intuition over deductive logic, Cartesian dualism, and whether the "Cogito" truly establishes the existence of a thinking subject. Despite these objections, Descartes' reasoning profoundly influenced subsequent Rationalist, Empiricist, and Idealist philosophies, shaping modern epistemological discussions. This text provides an overview of Descartes' revolutionary doubt, the "Cogito" reasoning, his broader rationalist framework, and a survey of major philosophical critiques, highlighting the seminal impact of the "Cogito" on modern Western philosophy. Article title : Exploring the effectiveness of multiclass decision jungle for internet of things security

abstract : Network intrusion detection systems (NIDS) are vital in protecting computer networks against cyber security incidents. The relationship between NIDS and internet of things (IoT) security is pivotal and NIDS plays a significant role in ensuring the security and reliability of IoT ecosystems. Ensuring the security of IoT devices is critical for several reasons. It helps safeguard sensitive information, guarantees the dependability of crucial infrastructure, meets regulatory obligations, and fosters user confidence. As the IoT ecosystem expands, prioritizing security is essential to minimize risks and maximize the benefits of connected devices. Given the ever-expanding cyber threat landscape, the multiclass classification task is essential to empower the NIDS with an ability to distinguish between various attack patterns in less computational time. The multiclass decision jungle algorithm is investigated to optimize the performance of NIDS. The research has considered permutation feature importance to include only the relevant features from the data. Using a contemporary dataset such as CICIOT 2023, the study has demonstrated an impressive attack detection rate of over 90% for 20 modern attack types. This research has investigated the effectiveness of IoT security measures and its prospective contributions to the field of cyber security. source link DOI: http://doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v15i3.pp3095-3106

  • Inflections of Tantra Imageries in the Artworks of Sayed Haider Raza and Biren De: An Analytical Study
  • Researcher: Abhik Sarkar
  • Supervisor: Dr. Rajan Kumar Vaidhya
  • University: Assam University
  • Year of Completion: 2022
  • Department: Department of Visual Arts
  • Research Problem
  • Despite the significant influence of Tantric philosophy on modern Indian art, there exists a critical gap in comprehensive research examining how renowned artists S.H. Raza and Biren De incorporated Tantric symbolism, iconography, and visual imagery into their artistic practice. This study addresses the dearth of detailed analytical scholarship on the Tantric dimensions of these two pioneering Indian modernists' work. Research Objectives
  • To examine and analyze Tantric visual elements, symbolism, and iconography in the artworks of S.H. Raza and Biren De
  • To explore the philosophical underpinnings of Tantra and its manifestation in visual art forms
  • To trace the genesis and development of the Neo-Tantric art movement in India
  • To document the artistic evolution of both artists from their early practices to Tantric-inspired abstraction
  • To provide fresh perspectives on understanding the creative journeys and philosophical approaches of these two influential artists
  • Methodology
  • The research employs a multi-faceted analytical approach combining visual analysis of artworks, critical examination of existing literature including biographical accounts by Imbert Michel, Ashok Vajpeyi, Yashodhara Dalmia, and Zaheer Sehba, and philosophical interpretation of Tantric concepts. The study systematically analyzes the visual vocabulary, symbolic language, and iconographic elements present in the selected artworks of both artists.
  • Key Research Areas
  • Provides comprehensive documentation and analysis of Tantric visual elements in the works of two major Indian modernists
  • Establishes connections between ancient spiritual traditions and contemporary artistic expression
  • Offers new interpretive frameworks for understanding the symbolic and philosophical dimensions of Indian abstract art
  • Contributes to the discourse on Indian modernism, particularly the intersection of spirituality and visual abstraction
  • Enriches understanding of how indigenous philosophical systems inform and shape artistic innovation Significance
  • This research makes a valuable contribution to art historical scholarship by filling critical gaps in the study of Neo-Tantric art in India. It enhances our understanding of how Tantric philosophy transcends religious boundaries to become a vital source of artistic inspiration and innovation. The study is significant for scholars, students, and practitioners interested in Indian modern art, comparative religion, visual culture studies, and the dialogue between tradition and modernity in artistic practice. The findings provide essential insights for museums, galleries, collectors, and art educators seeking deeper understanding of these artists' works and their place within the broader narrative of Indian and global modern art movements.
