Arun Joji

About

Arun Joji is a design educator and practitioner based in Bengaluru, India, currently teaching at RV University. His work sits at the intersection of design practice and pedagogy, where he brings together structured thinking and open-ended exploration in the studio. With a strong inclination towards user-centered design, Joji is interested in how everyday experiences, systems, and cultural contexts shape the way we interact with products. He often frames design not just as problem-solving, but as a way of observing, questioning, and making sense of the world.

In the classroom, he creates dynamic, discussion-led learning environments—blending hands-on making, critical reflection, and collaborative exercises. He is particularly drawn to designing learning experiences that move beyond rigid briefs, encouraging students to embrace ambiguity, think independently, and develop their own design voice.

Beyond his academic practice, Joji is passionate about working with materials such as ceramics and glass, and enjoys exploring form through hands-on making. He is an avid runner, rider and cyclist who enjoys long solo journeys. Drawn to the outdoors, he has a keen interest in adventure activities and immersive experiences. He is also a movie enthusiast, constantly engaging with cinema as a source of storytelling, perspective, and inspiration.
