I am Dr. Kendagannaswamy S, an academician, researcher, and educator with over 18 years of experience in teaching, research, industry and academic leadership in Electronics and Communication Engineering. My expertise lies in VLSI design, Network-on-Chip (NoC), sensor technologies, and emerging areas such as IoT and AI-driven applications.
Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in bridging the gap between academia and industry through innovation, research, and hands-on learning. I have published over 44 research papers in reputed journals and conferences and hold multiple national-level patents. My research interests focus on developing practical and scalable solutions, particularly in smart sensor systems and intelligent applications.
I established the Centre of Excellence on Sensor Technology and its Applications (CSTA), where I lead initiatives in product development, consultancy, internships, and industry collaborations. Through this centre, I have contributed to the development of IoT-based sensor kits, executed consultancy projects, and trained hundreds of students through industry-oriented programs.
I am passionate about teaching and have been recognized with the Best Young Teacher Award and international Teaching and Learning Awards. My teaching philosophy is centered on experiential learning, project-based approaches, and the effective use of ICT tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. I actively contribute to curriculum design aligned with Outcome-Based Education (OBE), NEP 2020, and global frameworks such as CDIO.
Apart from teaching and research, I am actively involved in academic administration as a BoE and BoS member under VTU and as part of academic committees. I also engage in international collaborations and have participated in programs such as THWS Staff Week in Germany and the World TWIN Robotics Exchange Week. I strongly believe in continuous learning and contributing to the advancement of engineering education.
My vision is to create innovative, student-centered learning environments that nurture critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and industry readiness, preparing students to become future-ready engineers and responsible professionals.
Research Summary
My research expertise lies in VLSI Design and Network-on-Chip (NoC), focusing on performance optimization, fault tolerance, and secure architectures. I have also contributed to sensor technologies and IoT applications, enabling smart, real-time embedded solutions. I have published 40+ research papers in reputed international journals and conferences and hold multiple national-level patents.
I am the founder and lead of the Centre of Excellence on Sensor Technology and its Applications (CSTA), driving research, innovation, and industry collaboration. I have generated over ₹10+ lakh in consultancy, ₹8.9+ lakh through internship programs, and ₹25+ lakh through product development initiatives, reflecting strong industry engagement and impact. In addition, I actively contribute to engineering education research by publishing conference and journal papers on teaching-learning methodologies. I have conducted over 36 Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and trained more than 1000 engineering faculty members across Karnataka, promoting effective use of ICT tools and innovative pedagogical practices.
