About
Lipsa Routray is a researcher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) with a focus on user-centered design, cognitive ergonomics, and inclusive technologies. She recently completed her PhD at the Centre for Linguistic Science and Technology, IIT Guwahati, where her work explored the design of driver-centric dashboard interfaces for electric buses in the Indian context. Her research emphasizes usability, safety, and real-world applicability, particularly for public transport systems.
With an academic background in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and a Master’s in Communication Engineering and Signal Processing, she brings an interdisciplinary perspective that bridges technology, design, and human behavior. Prior to her doctoral research, she worked as a Project Assistant at IIT Bhubaneswar.
Her work involves extensive field engagement, including interviews with drivers and stakeholders, contextual inquiry, participatory design, and usability evaluations. She has collaborated with industry partners such as Switch Mobility and Ashok Leyland, contributing to the development of practical, user-informed solutions for next-generation electric vehicle interfaces.
Lipsa has published in international conferences and actively contributes to the research community as a reviewer for IEEE and Springer conferences. Her broader interests include accessible interface design, multimodal interaction, and improving user experience in complex systems.
Beyond research, she values persistence, grounded thinking, and continuous learning. Her journey reflects a steady commitment to growth—balancing technical rigor with empathy for users—aiming to design systems that are not only functional, but meaningful in real-world contexts.
