About

Navya J. Muricken is an academician and researcher specializing in Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance. She earned her Ph.D. in Finance from IFMR Graduate School of Business, Krea University, and qualified the UGC National Eligibility Test with Junior Research Fellowship (UGC NET-JRF) in December 2018.

Prior to joining her current role, Dr. Navya served as an Assistant Professor at ICFAI Business School, Bengaluru, an Academic Associate at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, and an Assistant Professor at Mar Thoma School of Management Studies.

Her research primarily focuses on corporate finance, with a special interest in corporate governance, board structure, and board diversity, examining how these factors influence firms’ financial performance and strategic decision-making. She has presented her research at several national and international conferences and remains committed to advancing knowledge in finance through rigorous and impactful research.

Beyond academics, Dr. Navya enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle through regular exercise and believes that good food is one of life’s greatest joys. She treasures spending quality time with her close friends, whether over a cup of coffee and sharing stories.

Does Mandating Gender Quota in Corporate Boards Affect Firms' Credit Ratings? Evidence from India

This study examines whether India's mandatory board gender quota influences firms' credit ratings. Using a difference-in-differences approach, it explores how increased female representation on corporate boards affects firms' perceived creditworthiness. The findings contribute to the literature on corporate governance, gender diversity, and corporate finance, offering valuable insights for policymakers, investors, and practitioners.
