About
Dr.Partha Dutta is a skilled graphic artist, printmaker, researcher and educator. He holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from the University of Burdwan and a Master of Fine Arts from the Hyderabad Central University, where he was awarded a Gold Medal for Printmaking. He completed his doctoral research at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, focusing on contemporary printmaking practices in India.
Dr. Dutta’s artistic practice explores innovative approaches to printmaking, often integrating new technologies into traditional processes. His works have been showcased in numerous exhibitions at renowned venues, and he has participated in several prestigious workshops and residencies. An active researcher, Dr. Dutta has presented papers at national and international forums, such as the Paris Conference on Arts and Humanities, academic research conferences in Thailand and Cambodia, and the International Conference on Research into Design (IIT Hyderabad, IISc Bangalore), as well as the Research and Industrial Conclave at IIT Guwahati, and many more.
Partha’s academic journey merges creativity with technical expertise, shaping an innovative and research-driven teaching approach to design education. He emphasises not just skill development but also conceptual understanding, inspiring students to think critically and explore their individual interests through a collaborative, research-based, hands-on learning environment.
Investigates the integration of traditional and digital printmaking in contemporary Indian art education.
Examines how conventional methods and digital tools (3D printing, laser engraving) shape creativity, aesthetics, and artistic practice.
Develops frameworks to preserve traditions, embrace innovation, and foster inclusive, experimental printmaking.
