In accordance with the provisions in the RV University Act-Chapter IV, Clause (24) the Principal Governing Body of RV University is the Board of Governors. The Composition, powers, function and procedures to be followed are given below and are as per the act.

Powers, Procedures & Functions Of The Board of Governors:

  1. The Chancellor shall Chair all the meetings.
  2. Vice Chancellor and Registrar shall be present for all the meetings.
  3. Quorum for the meeting shall be four members (with voting rights) of which one of the members must be the Vice Chancellor.
  4. The Board of Governors shall meet THREE times in a year.
  5. In the normal course, one fortnight notice shall be given to members regarding venue, date and time of the meeting. The agenda shall be prepared and circulated to the members 07 days prior to the date of the meeting. AS per Clause (32), no agenda matter shall be either included or taken up for discussion in the meeting without obtaining the prior written approval of the Chancellor.
  6. The decision of the Chancellor shall be final and binding on the University.
  7. Powers of the Board of Governors (as per RV University Act 2019)

    • Appoint the Statutory Auditors, Approve the Budget and Annual Report of the University.
    • Laydown policies to be pursued by the University and take decisions and steps as desirable for effectively carrying out the ‘Objects of the RV University’.
    • Review decisions of the other authorities of the University to assess their conformity with the Statues/Rules and the University Act.
    • Review and approve new and additional statutes of the university and repeal the earlier statutes.
    • Approve proposals for the submissions to the Government.
    • Nominate THREE (3) members for the Fee Regulation Committee.
    • Disqualify an authority or a body as per Clause (30).
    • Take decision on voluntarily winding up of the University.
Tenure:

The tenure of office of the members of the Board of Governors other than Government nominee, shall be such as may be laid down by the Statues.
