About the Speaker: Kunal Ambasta is an Assistant Professor of Law at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru. He graduated with a B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) from NLSIU in 2012 and completed his LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2013. He has been a faculty member at NLSIU since 2013 and has taught courses on Criminal Law, Law of Evidence, Jurisprudence, and Legal Methods. He has also taught an elective course on Queerness & the Law, and seminar courses on Comparative Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Investigations. His research interest lies in the criminal justice system, the law of evidence and proof, and the interface between law, sexuality, and gender identity. He has been writing extensively on these issues and has published in several reputed journals. He is one of the directors of The Justice Initiative (TJI). TJI works with people in conflict with the law, particularly life convicts, enabling them to recreate their identities and rebuild their lives.
