School of Law invites you to a workshop on Curriculum Research and Reforms in Legal Education by Prof. (Dr.) Ishwara Bhat, Professor, Department of Law, University of Mysore.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. P. Ishwara Bhat had his legal education (LL B, LL M and Ph D) from the University of Mysore and had his LL D degree from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. He has teaching and research experience for 43 years. He served as Professor and Dean, Faculty of law, University of Mysore, acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, Vice-Chancellor of West Bengal National University of juridical Sciences, Kolkata and Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi. He was Fulbright-Nehru Visiting Scholar for co-teaching in Catholic university of America, Washington DC and Shastri Visiting Scholar at the Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada for teaching comparative legal tradition. He worked on language rights under Faculty Research Award at York, Toronto and Ottawa Universities, Canada. He presented papers on non-profit law at Beijing, Bangkok, Seoul, Jakarta and Tokyo.

Dr. Bhat handled 5 research projects and guided 22 researchers for Ph D. His publications include authored volumes such as Idea and Methods of legal Research (Oxford University Press, 2019), Law and Social Transformation in India
(Second Edition, Eastern book Co., 2022), Non-Profit Voluntary Organizations Law (2018) and Fundamental Rights: A Study of their Interrelationships (Eastern Law House, 2004). He has edited books such as Socio-legal Values in Mitakshara, Vachana, Dasa and folk Literature in Karnataka (KSLU, 2022), Non-State Justice System in Karnataka (KSLU,2022), A Handbook for Paralegal Volunteers (KSLU, 2022), Emerging Trends in Water Law and management (KSLU, 2022), Natural Resources Law (EBC, 2016), D. D. Basu’s Limited Government and judicial Review (Lexis Nexis 2015), Inter-State and international Water Disputes (EBC 2013), Constitutionalism and Constitutional Pluralism (Lexis Nexis, 2013), Essays in Law (University of Mysore, 2002) and five Law books in Kannada. He has published 140 scholarly articles in reputed national and international journals and books. In view of his academic contribution, the capital Foundation Society of India has conferred upon him Prof Upendra Baxi National Legal Research Award in 2020.
