School of Business and The Centre for Banking, Development and Financial Studies (CBDFS) invite you to a distinguished lecture on “Funding of Startups” by Abhijit Ray (Co-founder and Managing Director, Unitus Capital).
Abstract: The lecture will cover a wide range of financing options available to entrepreneurs, including private equity, venture capital, etc. Based on the long years of expertise in assessing start-up proposals with regard to equity and other limited liability partnership offerings, the talk will highlight due diligence processes being followed by Venture Capital Financing Companies. Attendees will gain insights into the criteria that investors use to evaluate potential investments, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each funding method. The speaker will also highlight the challenges that startups face in securing funding, and provide valuable tips and leads for funding strategies.
About the Speaker: Abhijit Ray, is an accomplished professional with almost three decades of experience in development finance, commercial banking, and microfinance. His expertise in the microfinance sector is particularly noteworthy, as he has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of Unitus Capital. Abhijit's career began at the State Bank of India (SBI), where he gained extensive experience working in various business areas across six different locations in India. He then went on to become an Assistant General Manager (AGM) at the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), where he oversaw the microfinance portfolio in Andhra Pradesh and served as the Business Development Manager for SME projects. Abhijit has co-authored articles on microfinance that have been published in international journals, and he is a regular contributor to leading national dailies in India. He has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Kolkata University and is a certified associate of IIBF, Mumbai. Furthermore, he has attended the School of Applied Microfinance Program in Kenya and the program on Strategic Leadership for Microfinance at Harvard Business School.
