Dr. Manimoy Paul held several responsible positions in his career, initially starting his career as a civil servant for the Govt. of India. For a significant part of his career, he was involved with the New York State Legislative Assembly building quantitative models to develop tax-related legislation. He also built quantitative macroeconomic models that were the backbone to balance the New York state budget during his tenure in the NY State Legislature. After that stint, he joined academics to build a career in teaching and research. He has obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He studied at the State University of New York to get his Ph.D. in Econometrics. Dr. Manimoy Paul has published several journal articles and book chapters. One of his passions is to work with his students to mold their minds as quantitative researchers. He has numerous publications and conference presentations with his students. Dr. Manimoy Paul served as a Board member of the New York State Economic Association for more than fifteen years. In 2014 and 2015 he served the New York State Economic Association as its elected President. He is also an editor of one of its journals.
