Dr. Sanchi Rai graduated from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, where she was a university rank holder and also a recipient of the Geeta Chopra Memorial Award for being an outstanding student. She then completed her Masters, M.Phil. and PhD in International Politics from School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, where she received top grades. She cleared the NET in International and Area Studies and was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship by the UGC in 2010. She submitted her PhD thesis on the origins of Indian foreign policy in the Centre for International Politics, Organization and Disarmament, School of International Studies, JNU. She has been doing archival research for a decade throughout India and in United Kingdom and has been a recipient of research grants from Charles Wallace India Trust and the Indian Council of Social Science Research. In 2015 she was invited as a visiting scholar by the SOAS South Asia Institute, University of London. Owing to her considerable archival research experience Dr. Rai worked for nearly three years as a principal research assistant with New York University, Abu Dhabi on a research project named ‘Ideas of India’. Dr. Rai has presented her research papers on the origins of Indian foreign policy in reputed international academic conferences in Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, UK and USA. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and has even contributed to IGNOU study material for the course ‘Perspectives on International Relations and World History’. She previously taught at FLAME University, Pune and Ambedkar University Delhi.
