Dr. Pranjali Chakraborty Thakur

Posted on by santosh

I am an Assistant Professor of Psychology in SoLAS, bringing a blend of clinical expertise, research excellence, and educational experience to the university. I completed PhD in Clinical Psychology from NIMHANS, Bangalore, with my research centering on the emerging field of internet addiction. My PhD work involved the development and evaluation of a group-based intervention program designed to promote healthy technology use among adolescents in schools, utilizing a mixed-methods approach to ensure both evidence-based practice and real-world relevance. My work demonstrated statistically significant benefits for participating students and contributed substantially to the discipline of behavioral addictions.

In addition to research, I have been actively engaged in clinical roles, doing mental health assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic management for a wide range of patients, with particular experience in emotional distress and neurotic conditions. I have supervised and trained M.Phil. scholars in psychological assessment, behavioral interventions, and therapy techniques, thereby contributing to a vibrant academic environment and supporting the next generation of clinical psychologists.

My clinical engagement also involved notable work at the SHUT (Service for Healthy Use of Technology) Clinic, where I provided interventions for clients facing problematic internet use, including gaming disorders and compulsive social media use. Prior to my doctoral degree, I completed rigorous M.Phil. training in Clinical Psychology at IHBAS, Delhi, and earned degrees in Applied Psychology and Psychology from Delhi University.

I am also a published researcher, with articles in international journals addressing issues from body image and technology use to gaming disorders and determinants of excessive gaming among female population in India. My evidence-based, client-centered approach and commitment to mental health define my contributions to the field in both academia and clinical service.

I am a theoretical quantum physicist specializing in quantum optics, quantum information theory, and nonlinear dynamics. I earned my Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Mysore, Mysuru, in 2021.

From 2021 to 2023, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, working in the Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Group. My research there focused on foundational and applied aspects of quantum mechanics, including geometric phases, spin squeezing, and entanglement.

Between 2023 and 2025, I held a postdoctoral position at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, in the Nonlinear Physics Group, where I studied soliton interactions and related nonlinear wave phenomena. I also spent three months as a postdoctoral fellow at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, in the Engineering Mechanics Unit, applying mathematical physics methods to problems in continuum mechanics.

My work combines analytical techniques and mathematical modeling to investigate complex quantum and nonlinear systems. I have contributed to understanding how geometric phase manifest in quantum systems, the generation and characterization of quantum correlations, and the dynamics of nonlinear excitations in diverse physical settings.

Broadly, my research interests include mathematical physics, quantum optics, quantum information theory, nonlinear dynamics, and continuum mechanics.

Purushothaman Shanmugam

Posted on June 20, 2025 by santosh

I’m Purushothaman, an industrial designer with a foundation in engineering and a deep passion for product design, mobility, systems thinking, and user-centered innovation. My journey started in engineering, but it was curiosity about how people emotionally connect with products that led me to the world of design.

At DY Works, I began as a packaging designer and gradually transitioned into a business design role. There, I worked on projects that combined storytelling, brand strategy, and user experience—shaping bold visual identities and developing product strategies for a wide range of clients. This experience showed me how design can serve as a bridge between business goals, cultural narratives, and human behavior.

As a designer, educator, and lifelong learner, my time as an assistant professor at RV University reinforced my belief that teaching is a collaborative process. Students continually pushed me to refine my thinking and approach. Over time, I’ve developed a design process grounded in close observation, emotional insight, and cultural awareness—focused on building systems and experiences that are not only functional, but truly meaningful.
