Professor Y.S.R. Murthy has nearly four decades of rich and varied experience in the academia, civil service, media, autonomous statutory bodies and non-governmental organizations at national and international levels. He is a passionate institution builder, educator and is deeply interested in Human Rights related issues. He is the Founding Vice Chancellor of RV University, Bengaluru and also its Founding Dean, School of Law. Prior to it, he worked as a founding faculty member and the Registrar of O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat for 11 years between 2009-20 and contributed to its rapid growth. He also held many responsible positions in the National Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Finance, Prime Minister’s Office, President Secretariat and Cabinet Secretariat. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Statistics from the University of Madras, M.A. degree in Human Rights from the University of London and Ph.D. degree from the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. He secured University First Rank in M.Sc. and is a recipient of prestigious British Chevening Fellowship.

  • Received the India Global Leadership Award from Mr. Kalyan Chakravarty, IAS, Principal Secretary, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Department, Government of Assam at the 2nd India Global Education & Skill Summit in Bengaluru on 10th June 2022. The award was instituted by the Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood Department, Government of Karnataka and the IndiGlobal Media Network.

  • Received the National Award for Business Excellence-2022 for outstanding contribution in CSR activity in the Education Sector from the Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot on 24th April 2022.
