Prof. (Dr.) Ram Kumar Kakani

About

Ram Kumar Kakani is the Vice Chancellor of RV University. He is a former Director of IIM Raipur (2022-25). He was also the Professor of Management at IIM Kozhikode and is currently in the governing council of AIIMS Raipur, HNLU Raipur and IGNFA Dehradun. Beginning his career as a technocrat, he transitioned into academia with a focus on Finance, Strategy, and Performance. He has taught at XLRI Jamshedpur, LBSNAA Mussoorie, and held international academic roles in Denmark, Nigeria, Singapore, and the UAE.

Lately, Ram has moved into the Governance, Leadership and Public Administration domain, serving as Director of the Government of India’s National Centre for Leadership Development & Competency Assessment (NCLDCA). His work bridges business acumen with governance and societal impact.

A prolific author, Ram’s books span publishers like Cambridge, Sage, Routledge, and McGraw-Hill, with several textbooks in multiple editions. He believes “competence without action is unrealized potential,” and seeks to integrate insights across business, governance, policy, and leadership to make life more meaningful.
