No educational degree is complete today without a serious study of the environment. Growing air and water pollution, deforestation, urbanisation, and unsustainable agriculture have damaged our ecosystems. Global warming is the biggest environmental and socio-economic challenge for sustainable development in India and other developing countries.
Environmental degradation affects everybody but the impacts are highest on disadvantaged groups in society. Understanding and solving these complex challenges requires an interdisciplinary approach that brings together an understanding of science, technology and society. The environmental science undergraduate degree thus brings together diverse disciplines of Ecology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Sciences, Social sciences, and Law. Anyone who wishes to bridge these diverse knowledges must pursue a B.Sc. in Environmental Science.
The undergraduate degree programme in Environmental Science examines modern challenges of climate change, sustainable development, and biodiversity conservation from interdisciplinary perspectives to understand our past, present, and the future of humanity and the planet.
